The LoadDown - 11/08/2010

The pace is picking up a bit as the holidays approach... and I realized I have been remiss in not covering the Playstation One downloadable re-releases on PSN, so I will be covering those as well from here on out.  Here's what's new this week...

WiiWare -- Two titles this week.  Mix Superstar takes a page from the DSiWare playbook, with a creativity tool that lets users create mixes from a variety of royalty-free beats and loops, and send them to friends over WiiConnect24.  Vocals can be recorded with a USB mic or WiiSpeak, and additional loops can be purchased online.  Gods vs. Humans is a tower-defense game pitting the gods of myth and legend against the humans trying to build a tower to reach them -- players must defeat them without seriously injuring them:

Wii Virtual Console -- The digital crickets resume their chirping...

DSiWare -- Three titles are up this week.  Discolight causes the DSi screen to flash rhythmic colors.  Adventure in Vegas: Slot Machine lets you lose virtual money on three different one-armed bandits. GO Series Pinball Attack! is a pinball/adventure/shooter hybrid that uses the pinball as a weapon.

XBox Live Arcade -- Two games last week: Konami's card/boardgame hybrid Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels, and SNK's Neo-Geo classic King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match.

Game Room -- Game Pack 011 makes a promising debut, with two unreleased games:  Activision's engaging escort-and-attack game Kabobber for the Atari 2600, and Space Cadet for the Intellivision.  We also get two quality Atari 2600 games, Space War and "red box" late release Sprint Master.

PS3 on PSN -- One new title, HOARD, debuted last week -- it's a local and online multiplayer strategy/action contest, where dragons compete to destroy as much territory as possible.

PSOne on PSN -- One new game last week, though it's scarcely a must-have: Virtual Pool 3.
